Why the HUMMER H2? Black Diamond HUMMER Tours uses the highly capable and luxurious HUMMER H2. Seating for 5 plus guide, allows for a comfortable, fully enclosed climate-controlled adventure. Air conditioned when the adventure heats up, and heated seats for those cool adventures at 8500’ on Mt. Lemmon. With the H2’s off-road agility and on-road manners the fun is unlimited whichever adventure you choose.
What do I need to bring? Your camera and your sense of adventure! All Black Diamond HUMMER tours include plenty of bottled water, soft drinks, and snacks. If you chose an all-day adventure, lunch is provided- either a box lunch if off-roading or in a restaurant if Mt. Lemmon is your destination. For tours that include stops at the Arizona Desert Museum and Saguaro National Forest, all admissions are included.
What do I wear? Close-toed shoes or comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots for hiking in the desert areas when your adventure stops at some of the more remote areas. One of the great parts of the rugged HUMMER H2, is that it can safely take you to places that may bring you in close contact with prickly, spiky, sharp desert plants and jagged rocks. Layers of clothing is recommended for our high-altitude adventures, as the temperature can drop significantly, even in the middle of Summer. Our fully-enclosed, climate-controlled H2 means you can arrive back at your hotel without layers of dust and dirt. We leave the others in the dust!
What about rest rooms? On all of our adventures, there are designated rest stops. On most of the trails, the rest rooms available are usually provided by state or federal parks or services. They can vary from the elaborate to the simple.
Will I encounter wildlife? Very possible! Keep your camera at the ready! Although the HUMMER H2 is big and tough, it also is very quiet! When in our Pewter H2, it blends in with many desert surroundings, making wildlife sightings frequent. White tail deer, gila monsters and coyotes are some of the desert creatures that may be seen on our tours. Birds and butterflies frequently flutter along the trail. Mt. Lemmon is home to black bear and mountain lion and the dirt trails we travel increase those rare, but possible sightings. Encounters with harmless lizards are common when rock-crawling. It is the desert, after all, so NEVER put your hand down under a rock or bush without looking first! Poisonous snakes and scorpions do live in the areas we visit.
Is this really safe? Your Black Diamond HUMMER Tours professional guide is CPR/First Aid certified and a first aid kit is always on board. Your professional guide is trained by the experts at the AMGeneral HUMMER Academy. The HUMMER H2 is as capable off-road machine as is available. And like any athlete, the H2 is in top condition and meticulously maintained. In addition, the HUMMER H2 is equipped with On-Star satellite communication system. It is important to know that areas of some of our more extreme adventures are remote enough that even On-Star can’t reach, so we always have a satellite phone on board for emergencies. Conditions can change on some of our off-road adventures that may make travel slower than usual. Break-downs are extremely rare and your expert guide will always get you safely back to civilization. Adventure finish times can not be guaranteed.
What about the harm to the environment? Black Diamond HUMMER Tours prescribes to the “TREAD LIGHTLY” program of off-roading. We only travel on established, although sometimes infrequently used, trails. We always carry out our trash, and if we find trash that others have left, your guide will pick that up, too. Our gasoline engine is quiet and always highly tuned to meet pollution standards. When wildlife or open range livestock is encountered, we observe but don’t disturb. We love the environment and want to keep trails open for visitors to experience the beauty of our area. We pledge to do no harm.
